That being said, it's not uncommon for children to get off the boat having loved their time out on the water! The only external movement the boat will receive is passing boat wakes from other boaters. There are very few natural waves or swells in this area because of Crane Beach acting as a great barrier for our beautiful estuary. In some instances however, due to passing boat wakes, a very small amount of water may trickle down the deck of the boat. Your Captain or crew may suggest that all passengers lift any of their belongings off of the floor, but is not something that will disturb your experience. All this being said, we are at the mercy of Mother Nature and other local boaters, so anything is possible.
The town of essex...
Thank you all so much for giving us a relaxing, accommodating, and informative experience during our cruise yesterday. Everything was great, and we couldn't have asked for a more pleasant staff, not only during the cruise, but also throughout the planning. Nearby Perkins Marine also offers kayak launching and parking for $25, space permitting. Your best bet here is to go on a weekday, when marina use is lighter. This cruise can be enjoyed to its fullest by simply just bringing yourself with a great attitude! Some people choose to bring their cameras to capture their favorite moments of the cruise, or maybe some binoculars.
About the Train
Surrounded by fine restaurants, antique shops, working museums, and cultural attractions, you'll cruise through spectacular views of scenic salt marshes with rich unique wildlife. The steam locomotive pulls vintage coaches through the quintessential New England towns of Deep River and Chester. A natural highlight is the undeveloped Selden Neck State Park, accessible only by boat.

We do not have an area to check in any belongings, but we often find that space for personal items is not an issue on board our vessels. We have plenty of FREE parking on site for passengers at all times. It is all very close, and there is a drop off area if necessary. Available in any amount, your gift card will be sent via email to the recipient. After a long hot summer day, sand in your shoes and color on your skin, there is no better way to end the day than with a nice ice cream cone.

Inspired by classic New England surf shops, like Hampton Beach’s Cinnamon Rainbows, Cape Ann SUP started back in 2010 with a truck and 6 paddleboards. Woodman’s is a throwback to your childhood seafood experience. You order in line and get a number that is called out when the food is ready. The piping hot fried clams, scallops, lobster and fries are then brought out on a tray that you can pick up and enjoy in a classic wooden table.
Formed 15,000 years ago by melting glaciers of the last Ice Age, the marsh serves as the feeding ground for many species of beautiful birds and abundant wildlife. For generations, it has sustained boat builders, fishermen, clammers, entrepreneurs, and characters of all sorts from the Agawam natives to the present residents. Essex is well known for its restaurants and antique shops. The famous Woodman's of Essex, known to be the inventor of the fried clam, still operates year round along the causeway today, and is a must stop for any fried clam enthusiast. Anyone who takes a particular interest in antiques will find themselves right at home, as there are over 25 antique shops in Essex, all within one mile of one another. If you want some more time outdoors, take some time to explore some of the local nature trails.

If you get lost, stuck in traffic, or otherwise can't make it for any reason, you will lose your tickets. We highly suggest saving yourself the worry, and arriving in town early. There are enough restaurants, antique shops, and other things to do that can keep you occupied in the time leading up to the cruise.
There is also a restroom available on shore at the marina. Note that the restroom on board is down a small set of stairs, whereas the on shore one is not. We hope that you enjoyed our guide on 15 Things To Do in Essex, MA. When you visit Essex, we always say you are visiting all of Cape Ann. The neighboring towns of Rockport, Manchester and Gloucester are all worth exploring but there is definitely something special about the rural, coastal landscape in Essex. No question that Essex and Cape Ann is truly a birders paradise.
